Thursday Aug 14 2008

By Marilyn Kentz | Bio | Website

Unlike in our mothers' and grandmothers' day, you and I are bombarded with young, beautifully and magically enhanced women 24 hours every day. Frequent ads remind us that we should be defying our age. Half the time, I don't even know I should be worried about something until a commercial tells me so.

It was my last day of my week-long vacation and I was back in Berkeley visiting my 22-year-old and her boyfriend. I was meeting my husband there, as we had gone in two different directions for the last part. It was the boyfriend’s 24th birthday and she had made plans for the two of them to go out to a romantic dinner. Since we had extended our stay by one day I insisted they keep their original plans. Marilyn Kentz

Monday Jan 01 2007

I am privileged to say that Marilyn is my friend and that her children are friends of my children. Star of the NBC sitcom “The Mommies” and the ABC talk show “Caryl and Marilyn: Real Friends”, this multi-talented woman is an inspiration. She teaches parenting classes, designs jewelry and facilitates 2 women’s support groups and 2 writers’ support groups in L.A. She has co-authored three books (The Mother Load, Not Your Mother’s Midlife: A Ten Step Guide to Fearless Aging, and Fearless Women: Midlife Portraits), and is currently working on Reflections: Celebrating the Woman in the Mirror. Marilyn combines humor and comedy with wit and wisdom in everything she does: she is a veritable Boomer Babe. Visit the Fearless Aging website to find out more about what she’s up to next...
