Gore’s Challenge

Friday Aug 01 2008

   By Jim Selman | Bio

There is an inspiring 30-minute speech by Al Gore challenging all of us and our nation to commit to a 10-year program to move away completely from a carbon-based economy. The challenge echoes what a lot of us have been saying for years, but he has developed sufficient moral authority in some sectors that maybe more people will listen. Redesigning our energy infrastructure isn’t exactly the same as going to the moon as he suggests, but there are some powerful parallels.

Fast Train

Tuesday Apr 22 2008

It seems appropriate on this Earth Day that I am scooting along the French countryside at about 180 mph on one of Eurostar’s fast trains on my way to Amsterdam. I decided that the chance to spend a few hours away from hotels and airports might be a refreshing change. I was right. The scenery is lovely and the ride comfortable. Energy as a Way of Life II

Wednesday Mar 19 2008

By Charles E. Smith | Bio

Read the first post in this series.

Lorin Smith had developed his own healing practice based on massage, singing, dance, telling stories. As I came to know him over time, I saw he could look at a person, individual, or look at a group, and see exactly what kind of energy was missing. He could see where the joy was missing, or where the relationship was missing. He could see whether people didn’t mean what they said. He could see how their bodies were contracted or turned against themselves or twisted out of shape. He had an ability to see what I was not trained to see. I could already sense some of this in my work with groups, but I was not really construing it in any kind of energetic framework as he did. And what he was able to produce, in terms of sick people getting better or groups going from non-directed to focused, was very fast and remarkable. It was as though he was breathing life—breathing energy—into them. And he would do whatever he needed to do, whatever he could think of to do, given his particular talent, culture, and repertoire.

Agreement and Alignment

Wednesday Oct 24 2007

By Shae Hadden

In a recent conversation with my sisters, I was reminded that people don’t necessarily have to agree with the how, why or when of a particular possibility. But they do have to be aligned on the ‘who’ and the ‘what’ in order to move forward together—and the ‘who’ has to include a commitment from each person involved to the possibility of the ‘what’. In fact, disagreeing with the specifics of how to create a possibility adds value to the conversation and can inform and, in many cases, contribute to the success of the venture—whether it is the creation of something intangible (like a relationship) or tangible (like a product, project or organization). For most, agreement occurs when one person surrenders their point of view to accept another point of view.[Read More]
